Over the past few chaotic weeks, I've had an ample amount of time at home to reflect on my purpose and future goals in life. The federal quarantine regulations put into place to protect human lives by preventing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) are keeping a lot of people at home with time to reflect.
I will be the first to admit that initially I did not take this virus seriously—well, not until I quickly began to realize the detrimental effects it has had on individuals and their families. This pandemic has caused some people to face financial challenges, and to cancel or postpone major life events. And the most unfortunate of all has been that people are experiencing the death of many loved ones, young and old, around the world.
Despite the negative effects that this unexpected virus has created, it has taught me to value and make use of my time in a more productive way. Sometimes we fall into the trap of thinking that we can put things off until later because we assume that there will be plenty of time to pick up where we left off. However, this pandemic has not only reminded me that life can be taken away at any moment, but also that daily activities and plans can all of a sudden be put on hold indefinitely. I’d like to encourage my readers to use this time wisely, for working towards developing and implementing personal goals. If you have not done so already, start utilizing social media apps in a more healthy and meaningful manner by networking and building potential business connections with those who are aligned with your goals. Additionally, I’d like to encourage my readers to always have financial back up plans in place, such as having an emergency savings fund or even finding additional streams of income, like finally honing in on a gift/talent and begin making profit from it. With the hustle and bustle that life sometimes brings, we can unconsciously neglect our health, loved ones, and hobbies that are important to us. For instance, sometimes I get so busy with work and participating in extracurricular activities that I put off exercising and even blogging—hence the 3 month hiatus I took recently. Last week I decided to put down the quarantine snacks and started back dieting, exercising, practicing yoga, and blogging, which has helped keep my mind at ease during such an unpredictable time. Although I naturally HATE talking on the phone, I have also taken more initiative to call my family to check on them and engage in meaningful conversations even if it’s just for 15 minutes or so. Overall, I want to remind my readers that life is precious, and it can be taken away at any given moment, so don’t form a habit of putting important things off. Although you can’t always plan for everything, it does not hurt to have additional options lined up to potentially reduce some burdens when the unexpected occurs. Also, be mindful of what you are devoting your energy and time to. Work to consistently incorporate the daily activities that fuel your mental, physical, and spiritual health.
We can get through this pandemic together and I am praying that you all remain safe and healthy! XOXOXO I want to hear from…how have you been making use of your time while in quarantine?
